What It Really Means to Be an Inclusive Movement Space

You’ll see the word inclusive on a lot of studio websites. It’s easy to say. Harder to actually do.

At Breathing Space, inclusion is the foundation. It shapes how we teach, how we welcome people, and how we run our studio.

We know showing up to a movement class can feel like a big deal. Maybe you’ve felt out of place before. Maybe you’re carrying stress, pain, fatigue or recovery. Maybe you’re pregnant or postpartum and your body feels unfamiliar.

Wherever you’re starting from, we’ll meet you there. No pressure. No performance.

No pressure. Just space to move and breathe.

Our two studios in Dublin 8 — Cork Street and Donore Avenue — are designed to feel calm, clear and low-pressure.

We offer yoga, reformer Pilates, prenatal classes, somatic movement and trauma-aware practices that support your body and nervous system. This is about steady progress and feeling more connected — not chasing results.

Classes are small and welcoming. You can ask questions, take breaks or move in your own way. We won’t single you out. We won’t leave you behind.

All bodies. All stages. All welcome.

We offer body positive Pilates and inclusive yoga in Dublin for people of all:

  • Sizes and shapes

  • Genders and identities

  • Life stages

  • Energy levels and experiences

  • Mobility or access needs

We also support people navigating pain, chronic illness or burnout. You do not need to be “fit” or flexible to start.

Our job is not to fix your body. It’s to support it.

Pregnancy and postpartum support that’s real, not fluffy

A lot of people who come here are pregnant, newly postpartum, or working through induction decisions.

Rachel Flynn, our in-house doula and Connected Birth trainer, offers:

  • Weekly pregnancy yoga classes

  • Partner workshops for birth preparation

  • Virtual consultations for induction of labour

  • Comfort Measures for Induced Labour (online or in person)

This is real-world support from someone who knows the territory — not just generic prenatal fitness.

What a safe space actually means to us

Feeling safe is not about soft lighting or good vibes.

It’s about the language we use
The choice we offer in how you move
The way we listen and respond
The knowledge we bring about trauma, the nervous system and real life

You are not expected to push through or perform. You can take up space in your own way.

People tell us this is the first place they’ve felt truly welcome. That matters more than anything.

Thinking about joining?

You don’t need a plan. You don’t need to be sure. You just need to feel curious enough to try. We’ll make sure you’re supported from the moment you walk in.
